This exhibition showcases a selection of works from the Sand Castle series in which castles were drawn onto individual grains of sand, and the Colonies series in which microorganisms were used to compose images. By utilizing simple images that we often see around us, and by drastically manipulating scale, the artist forces the viewer to “re-cognize” the subject of an image and to rethink its meaning.
The works presented in this exhibition were created with the assistance of an MIT synthetic biologist (Colonies) and an MIT designer (Sandcastles).
